$125 annually for the registered agent role, unchanged across every membership tier, and no introductory rate lurking behind it waiting to expire. That is unusual discipline in a market where step-up pricing is the norm, and a reader who values predictability over the absolute number has a legitimate reason to look at it. Our disagreement is not with how Rocket Lawyer prices this service. It is with how much of the surrounding product you have to buy in order to get it.

The Scope Question

Agent service at Rocket Lawyer arrives as one component of a broader legal subscription: document templates, attorney consultations, filing assistance, and the agent seat among them. Anyone drawing on those tools regularly is getting value across the whole package and can safely ignore the rest of this page.

The other case is an owner whose Massachusetts LLC needs exactly three things from an agent, namely a street address in the Commonwealth, a person available during business hours to accept service, and quick delivery of whatever arrives. That owner is funding a platform in order to occupy one seat inside it. Nothing improper is happening. The fit is simply wrong, and the $26 annual difference is the smaller half of the problem.

The $99 Product, Described Exactly

One line at checkout. A Massachusetts street address on the resident agent line of your record. Same-day scanning with email notice attached. Anniversary reminders. Portal access. Massachusetts attaches unusual weight to whatever an agent receives. The annual report costs $500, or $520 filed electronically, and it comes due on your own certificate anniversary rather than on a statewide date that circulates in conversation among owners. The consequence of missing it is not a fee. 950 CMR 112.22 grants the Corporations Division power to dissolve a non-filing company administratively. In a state structured that way, whoever opens the mail from the Commonwealth is doing something worth considerably more than the gap between two annual rates.

Two Decisions, Not One: Membership and Agent

These can be made independently, and it helps to see them apart. Keeping a Rocket Lawyer membership for the templates while moving the resident agent line elsewhere is entirely permissible, because the state holds no view on your subscriptions.
